Application Process
As everyone knows every university has its own rules for enrollment and you should take several steps to get admission to your intended university. Getting admission to this faculty is based on several criteria. First, the student’s performance in high school. Students’ performance in high school plays an important role in their admission to the faculty, specifically in the fields of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Second, the entrance exams. As usual, entrance examinations are conducted at the university and by some representative offices abroad.
Since the entrance exams of this university are considered as one of the hardest entrance exams in Europe, a high level of knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics is needed. The entrance exam consists of two main parts:1. Written exam – multiple choice test from biology, chemistry and physics: The applicant will receive one point for each correct answer.2. Oral exam – multiple mini-interviews (MMIs): Various interviewers will ask different questions and topics to discuss with the applicants. It should be noted that for the non-EU applicants or the ones that do not have Schengen visas, a short tourist visa will be needed for your entrance exam the university can help and provide you with required the documents to the embassy to facilitate your process.
Last, is English proficiency. After the entrance exams the MMI (Multiple Mini Interview developed by McMaster University) is conducted with successful candidates which are all in English and your English knowledge would help you in this step.
Study Programs FIRST FACULTY OF MEDICINE
The study program of The First Faculty of Charles University for international students is conducted as a master’s degree in general medicine which offers a 6-year program that combines both medicine and surgery. The first 3 years are taught in the university itself. However, for starting the 4th year, international students have the opportunity to study one semester (12 clinical weeks) a year in their home countries.
Master’s degree in Dentistry is a 5-year program leading to the MDDr. degree (Medicinae Dentium Doctor) that consists of maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, and clinical dentistry. Master’s degree in specializations in healthcare such as addictology, physiotherapy, intensive care, occupational therapy, nutritional therapist, nutrition specialist, and midwife that is a 2-year program leading to the Mgr. degree that provides the students with necessary skills and comprehensive training to excel in the field.
Tuition Fees and Payments FIRST FACULTY OF MEDICINE
The tuition fee for general medicine is 500,000 CZK per year, which is equivalent to approximately 20,600 USD.
The tuition fee for dentistry is 500,000 CZK per year, which is equivalent to approximately 20,600 USD.
The tuition fee for Addictology for the studies starting in the academic year 2024/2025 is set for 290,000 CZK per year. It should be noted that the faculty should always get the full amount of tuition fee before the date of enrolment and the payment in instalments is not accepted in any case.
